Those words penned by Thomas Paine in 1776
were referencing the Continental Army huddled
together at Valley Forge, freezing and severely
tested in battle. They had many wounded,
were short on food...

I believe that many veterans do not know
peace because they will not adjust to lies or
knowingly coexist with lies. And once you see
one lie, you see them everywhere, not only in
the government, but at home, at work, and
even in ourselves...

American veterans of wars in Afghanistan and
Iraq will show why we must change our policies.
They have seen it. We must weigh their
witness...Can we drop any doctrine/rhetoric and
listen? Is the most important question behind
WSI, how to stop the killing now?

I came home to "the world" less than a
supporter of the war in Viet Nam on purely
humanitarian issues having witnessed first
hand the carnage to the young naïve Patriotic
Americans serving their country and to the
Vietnamese People.
We plan to give our brothers and sisters (at
Winter Soldier 2) all the support humanly
possible to ease the burden of telling their
truth. These will be stories from the front; not
the front office. Stories from those who’ve
been; not those who’ve sent them...
We don't have to agree with each other. We all
fought for the right to freely express our
feelings and beliefs...we should remember that
the man or woman who opposes us now, is the
same man or woman who watched our backs in
Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan.

Many people in this country did not even know
the Winter Soldier Investigation 1 happened
until a year or two after the fact. But, those
changes were phenomenal once they rippled
through the society: “Enough! We’re not going
to be silent any more about the horrors and
lies of war."

WINTER SOLDIER POETRY
IT'S TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.
He sat in front of me
As young Vets testified
To the atrocities of this unjust war.
Army green t-shirt,
Crew cut.
And as the horrors
Were spoken,
His shoulders hunched,
His head shook from side to side,
And bowed down chin to chest
And from time to time
A hand would wipe his eyes.
No need to glimpse his face.
I know the sadness I'd see
In eyes that have seen so much
